In Athens boys receive an education from their mother until the age of 6 or 7. From the ages of 7-14 they attend school outside of the home. They will memorize Homeric poetry and learn to play the lyre. They also learn drama, public speaking, reading, writing, math and sometimes how to play the flute.
After that boys will go to a four year high school and learn more about math, the government and science.
